Connected to Our Policyowners

Hear from Virginia policyowners, Dawayne and Terra Taylor, on not only the importance of life insurance to protect their family and their businesses, but also the significance of having a genuine connection with their Illinois Mutual agent, Pierre Greene.

I'm Dawayne Taylor and I am the owner of D. Taylor Enterprises. D. Taylor is the umbrella company for many companies. I own companies in the mental health space, service space as far as barbershop, as well as fashion.

I met the Taylor’s in 2008. We hit it off. Day one. He was just starting his business. The Taylor’s are not just clients, they're friends. I've been with them before they were married to having three beautiful daughters. Having one business to now being successful entrepreneurs.

Pierre has helped us with life insurance needs in many ways, telling us why it's important to have life insurance. He's been amazing. I think culturally, it was first, it wasn't something I knew about. So he really did some hand-holding and explained it to us. Different insurance products that we can utilize not only for the business, but individually and family to be able to create legacy.

A lot of people that I know don't have life insurance. I lost my mom 17 years ago. She didn't have life insurance, so my dad had to pay for everything out of pocket. And me being the oldest, I saw firsthand what he had to go through. The need of life insurance, whether you're any age. I mean, my mom was just 43 years old.

How you look at life insurance when it's just you is a lot different when you start to grow a family, as well as businesses in the need in which you want to set up from a financial standpoint.

I mean it put you on cloud nine. To know that I've done right by them and that we put things in place that's going to take care of not only them, but generations to come after them.

With all the other stressors that you know in that process that we encounter, I think at the end of the day, that gives you the breathe deep moment. And I think that a lot of people don't understand how important it is to be able to have that, regardless how big or how small, that can help the family in that time when they're dealing with so many other things.
